Have What You Want

The first step to getting what you want is to know what you want. You need to formulate your goal, or goals, in as much detail as you can. You also need self-belief. Self-belief gives you control of your life.

A study of Yale graduates in 1953, which asked students immediately after they had finished their degree what they wanted to do in their lives, found only 3 per cent had definite goals and ambitions. A follow-up study 20 years later found that those 3 per cent had the highest incomes and had reached the successes they intended. They also seemed happier and more well-adjusted.

The more accurately you are able to visualise the life you want in the future, and the more certain you are that you will achieve it, the more likely you are to attract it and turn it into a reality.  It doesn’t matter if you have no idea how you are going to achieve it, just that you know you will. Challenge yourself to set an outrageous goal. Shoot for the stars! In the words of Napoleon Hill, founder of ‘The Science of Success’, “What you can conceive, you can achieve.”

Our brains work on the principle of anticipation. We constantly predict what we think is likely to happen before it ever occurs. As soon as you start to anticipate an event, you start to act and feel in ways that help you prepare for what you think is going to occur.

While in hypnosis you will create a full and complete picture of the life you intend, imagining every single detail, from how you look, to how the people around you look, to the landscapes of your life, how you live, what work you do; everything you can possibly imagine, as if it were real. The more senses you can engage in your imagination, the more successful your visualisation will be.

Your expectations about your ability to get what you want have a profound impact on your emotional well-being. A large part of our brain is dedicated to anticipating rewards, ie. all the things you want that make life worth living. As J.R.R. Tolkien said: “A single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities.”

If you want to master anything, you have to ingrain it into your system, and that is certainly the case with clinical hypnotherapy. So as well as being guided by the clinical hynotherapist in your visualisations, to make them as real as they can possibly be, you will be taught the skill of self-hypnosis; so you can continue visualising your goal on a daily basis, and making sure your subconscious does not forget what you want, and what you expect.

In the words of Henry Ford, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you are right.”
